September Sky by John A. Heldt (Book Review #46)

September Sky is a story written about two men, Chuck and Justin. This father and son end up taking a trip to make amends over the time they have not spent together due to work and study. While on the ship they are offered a way to go back in time using a time machine. The two venture into the 1900’s where the great hurricane in Galveston, Texas happened.

They discover many things about their family’s history. While cruising in the past, they decide to solve a murder case and prevent an innocent man from conviction. While accomplishing all this, they fall in love with two women. During their time in the past, they are restricted with instructions and have to come back in a specified time.

This is a beautiful story with accurate historical references and a thoroughly researched plot. The concept of the story is well written and the literary standard is up to speed. I found the pace of the story to be side tracked at times. However, it would then faithfully return on its main course, so it did not bother me as much. It has a beautiful ending that is a pleasant surprise, and once you reach it, you feel satisfied and happy.

September Sky focuses on the main character’s emotions and feelings. Therefore, you can easily handle and feel more connected to them and the story. They have to face a devastating hurricane. Will they be able to survive it? The time they can stay in the past is limited so how are they going to say goodbye to the women they fall in love with? There are many delightful twists and turns in this exciting ordeal of a journey.

I look forward to reading the next book and wonder what adventures these two can unfold. I recommend this tale to anyone that loves time travel, suspense, and romance books.

  1. Thank you for following my blog. I share your interest in books and decided to follow yours. Can you read French? My grand original plan was to double-blog for my recipes, but alas, I find it very time-consuming… Anyway, if you need any further explanations on any of my culinary prose, let me know!

    • Hello! Thank you for commenting. Of course, I always follow back. I do not know French but I can always use a translator to read websites that use that language. I hope to see you again here soon. I think your idea for double blogging is great. I hope you find the time to do that.
