Screamcatcher: Web World by Christy J. Breedlove (Book Review #603)

Screamcatcher is a young adult fantasy novel written about a 17-year-old girl named Jory Pike. She has horrific nightmares due to her parent’s death. Her Grandfather tries to help her to sleep, but, nothing seems to work. Jory decides to use a dream catcher from her Grandfathers shop. She decides to do this with her friends, and when things take a turn, they all realize that they are trapped in a web world.

The world built is filled with nightmares, and the characters have to find the center to find a way out of it. The living nightmare is written in detail, and the pace of the story is fast. The characters have engaging personalities, and each to their own fills the story with humor, emotions, and have their backstory. I particularly enjoyed the relationship Jory had with her Grandfather.

 

The story got more intriguing as it went along. The dialogues for a young adult book were suitable for the genre, and that is something I usually look out for when reading these kinds of stories. I read too many young adult books where the dialogue does not sound like a teen story. I was gladly satisfied with this one.

 

I recommend this book to young adult fans and horror book readers.
