The Astral Hacker by Brian Terenna (Book Review #1085)

The astral hacker is a young adult cyberpunk science fiction story. It is book one of the cryptopunk revolution series and is set in the year 2010 where New America is free and prosperous. It is 80 years after the second American Revolution.

The story begins with Fae Luna, a seventeen-year-old girl who is living in a foster home and is very close to her foster mother, Barbra. When something bad happens to Barbra, Fae’s life changes, and she pursues reasons and investigates.

Rating: 4 out of 5.

This is a coming of age story. Fae is relatable, and you can easily bond with her and what she is going through from the start. I particularly enjoyed Sunny, her humanoid robot. The relationship and bond between them really pulled the story together.

The narrative is thrilling and filled with intrigue. The science fiction was not overpowering the story and was easy to understand. This enabled the reader to relax and not try to remember everything.

I recommend this book to sci-fi fans and the younger generation.
