When God Called a Boy Home by Paul Hamilton Magid (Book Review #1092)

When God called a boy home is an adventure story. It is set in 1958 and begins with Joseph Conell, a high school athlete from Montana who competes in martial arts. He becomes the reigning champion and has been since such a young age. This makes him a great candidate for the mystical monk from India, Lahiri.

Rating: 4 out of 5.

I found the character development, special Joseph’s, great and the book’s main attraction. As he ventures out on his spiritual journey, you get to learn and see so many unexpected scenes. This kept the reader very intrigued.

The literature was descriptive, making it easy to envision the scenes and get lost in them. There are spiritual aspects in the book that are thought-provoking. It also added depth to the story.

I look forward to reading more from this author and recommend it to those who like to read coming of age stories.
