Fae or Foe is book one of the Cracklock Saga series. The young adult fantasy story begins with Jack Crackley and him trying to stay away from the ever-changing world around him, but as luck has it, he is fallen right in the middle of everything. The reason is, The Cracklocks are gathering life force to destroy the Realm of the Departed (the realm of the dead), which is part of their plan for the destruction of the Faery itself. The lead, Jack’ Crackley’ (15), is a boy from a single-parent family on the poor side of town who has no idea who he actually is, having been glamoured to hide him when he was four.

Rating: 4 out of 5.

As you read along, you understand Jack’s predicament and his ways of dealing with his will to protect his mother, situation, and life. The story’s pace is steady, keeping the reader intrigued wanting to know.

The book cover design reflected the content inside. It was apparent that the author cared about making sure the storyline’s foundation kept its course and provided enough sideline stories to continue into the next book.

I look forward to reading more from this author and recommend this book to young fantasy fans.
