Heir to the underworld is a fantasy story written about fourteen heirs to the powers of the ancient Greek gods and their story adapting to the idea of their duties and responsibilities. Benjamin Darke, who is the god of the dead, does not bode well with the idea and finds it hard to take on the obligations that follow. Their names are picked to be gods based on them watching their generations, and Benjamin, the apprentice, has to show bravery and tolerance to succeed at his role.

Rating: 4 out of 5.

The author does not focus on just one character, but Benjamin does stand out and displays a charming and loving personality. The dialogue between the gods seemed so real, and the world-building was fantastic. It appeared to create a very engaging dramatic story. The ending leaves the reader just enough to be satisfied yet, wonder what happens next.

The literature was not complicated, like other Greek fantasy novels. It had a nice steady flow and could attract the reader’s mind and bond with the book lover.

I would recommend this book to anyone who likes to read fantasy, LGBT fiction and Greek and Roman myth legends.
