The Road to Ravenna by Valerie Cullers (Book Review #1044)

The road to Ravenna is a Christian historical fiction and is the sequel to ‘The unwelcome stranger’. I had already read book one, so I knew what I was getting into and expected the same quality work.

Rating: 4 out of 5.

Livia is on the run from Lucius and has escaped the Marius home. After a terrible storm, her ship is destroyed, and she is stranded on the coast of Italia. Lucius begins looking for her, but she has Marcus. Their relationship and love really pull the story together.

The story isn’t very long, and the pace is steady. Marcus’s personality is well-drafted and interlocks with Livia. The story also embodies religious notions that did not dominate the work but were well-reflected.

The previous book leaves you wondering what’s going on, but things are set to a point where you are satisfied with this book. I recommend this book to Christian fiction readers and look forward to seeing how the rest of the story will shape up.
