The Gathering of Shadows by Mark N Drake (Book Review #928)

The gathering of shadows is an occult horror fiction story set in the 1920s. It is descriptive and well written. Jack Glennison is a private detective hired by a young woman to find her husband.

Rating: 4 out of 5.

The story is twisted and mysterious, which keeps you intrigued, wanting to know what will eventually be the outcome. I wasn’t a big fan of the formatting, but the cover design definitely reflected the content inside. I found the dark cult to be the most exciting part of the storyline. They definitely added a particular dynamic to the story and enriched the fictional tale.

In my opinion, the protagonist had to really pull everything together as he was not only the lead character but also, he was the prominent character. Jack’s personality really stood out for me.

The author created a compelling notion here, and I enjoyed reading the book. I look forward to reading the next book coming out in April titled “Those Under The Hill.”

I recommend this book to anyone who likes to read dark fiction.
