Deadlock by Thomas Murphy (Book Review #943)

Deadlock is a political thriller portraying a scenario where an electoral deadlock takes place. This is when no one is elected as president.

Rating: 4 out of 5.

Since deadlock has happened before in American History, I found the story to be quite interesting to read. As an obvious notion, the story embodies political corruption and a great dynamic of backroom politics that supercharges this thought-provoking novel. The characters are intriguing, and it’s a good way of showing how America’s electoral system could be dysfunctional.

I particularly enjoyed Mike, a seasoned reporter facing unemployment in a changing media landscape. He was the one that pulled the story together, and in my opinion, Mike was very relatable.

The literature was written well. The pace of the story was steady and kept the reader intrigued. I recommend this book to anyone who likes political thrillers.
