Geckos and Guns – The Pakistan Years by Sharon Bazant (Book Review #1082)

Advertisements

Geckos and Guns is a travel memoir. This book follows her 2019 book titled ‘Nine Years in Bangkok’ and is a prequel to the author’s family breaking from everything they were used to and leaving Canada, their home. The author demonstrates many ups and downs through her travels with her children and begins the story from 1991.

Rating: 4 out of 5.

Living in a place with such a rich culture and different social etiquette, you see the author and her family embracing all that there is and more. They spend five years in Pakistan and learn so much from the food, climate, attending weddings and understanding living in a very different way.

With memoirs, I always look for honesty and personal growth. This book tells a fair story of the events and is enjoyable to read. I particularly loved the cover design of the book. It is very well thought out, colourful and represents the content inside.

I recommend this book to anyone who likes authentic travel memoirs and enjoys an adventure.
