Vanwest The Past by Kenneth Thomas (Book Review #790)

The past is a dystopian time travel thriller. It is the first book of the Vanwest series and is about an enforcer who lives in dystopian earth of the year 3000 and works for an authoritarian ruler called the Universal Council.

He is asked to travel back in time to face a renegade sect. However, once he gets there, he realizes a few truths about his past and what he is capable of. His task is important and affects the earth, but his discovery also means a lot, and that’s how the story takes the reader on an adventure worth reading.

Rating: 4 out of 5.

The added romance also provided some color to the mix. Captain Vanwest wants to reconcile his romantic interest against his growing sense of allegiance toward the Universal Council.

I particularly enjoyed Vanwest’s dilemma. The past, future, abilities, the choices he had to make, the pain and the matter of his heart were all very well put together.

The story is fast-paced, and every scene possesses an action-packed storyline that keeps the reader intrigued. I recommend it to anyone who likes futuristic thriller stories.
