The Word Dancer by Maxine Rose Schur (Book Review #1489)

‘The Word Dancer’ is a children’s fantasy book filled with magical elements, intense action, and adventure. The story begins when Ugsome attacks the kingdom of Wisland and forces Wynnfrith and Oliver, the crown prince, to flee. Their journey and dealings with all her troubles become the beautiful story at hand.

Wynnfrith is a 12-year-old orphan girl and is introduced in a lovely way, with foundation and backstory. Her character and demeanour are instantly likeable, and her bond, wanting to protect the 5-year-old prince, was admirable.

The journey is written well; from the start, you know this story will keep you hooked. The author has also paid attention to the fact that this is a book for young readers, and so the dialogue and content are very cleverly written for its age group.

I recommend this book to those who like fantasy books.
