REARRANGED by Kathleen Watt (Book Review #1546)

‘REARRANGED’ is a nonfiction memoir and the story of an opera singer who loses so much after being diagnosed with a rare cancer disease, osteogenic sarcoma. As we read through Kathleen’s journey of protracted treatment and recovery, we are introduced to months of chemotherapy, surgeries, and damage to her face.

The road to recovery afterward, her feelings, dealings with social acceptance of what beauty means, and how she can appear psychically attractive as a woman are beautifully written. Her encounter and experience are thought-provoking.

While her revelation is truly amazing and inspirational, you cannot help but think about how others mistreat people and how cruel they can be without considering what an individual can be going through.

I recommend this book to memoir readers and those who like to be enthused.
