Jaguars and Other Game by Brynn Barineau (Book Review #1586)

‘Jaguars and Other Game’ is a historical fiction set in 1809 Brazil. The story begins with Maria and Isabel, who are two sisters and owners of a mule train that transports gold from the mines in Minas Gerais to the city port.

Things change for the two sisters when a royal guard named Miguel Vidigal accuses their friend of murder. They set out to find out why, and during their research, they uncover conspiracies and mysteries that put the sisters in danger.

As you read along, you notice a lot of turns and twists that you were not certainly expecting. The content is filled with action, adventure, and even romance, but the additional humor was also a pleasant one.

I recommend this book to those who like historical fiction but also enjoy sisterly bonded storylines.
