Odriel’s Heirs by Hayley Chow (Book Review #699)

Odriel’s Heirs is a young adult fantasy novel written about Kaia, a seventeen-year-old Dragon heir who has the power of flame and uses it to protect what she loves, her homeland. By having this power, she is counted as an outcast by her own people after centuries of peace. Kaia has to find peace from within, to first accept who she is and then try to save her family, loved ones and her land once again.

I particularly enjoyed the conflict of emotions this young character had. The people were so much afraid of her and her power that she too began to fear it herself. Her personality was amazing. Her desire to be approved and accepted was touching.

Rating: 4 out of 5.

The pace of the story was steady, and the story had an organized way of moving forward without rushing the plot of jumping from one segment to the other.

I would recommend this story to anyone who likes to read fun, brave, burning in fire stories. Fantasy is the element of this tale, and the author has the potential and skill in creating good work.
