Ten Revision Bugaboos by Mary Lawrence
An author works months on a manuscript and the satisfaction from typing that final period is certainly worth a celebration. However, the sense of relief and joy is short-lived for me. I’ve written five books in my Bianca Goddard mystery series, but before I show my manuscript to a beta reader or editor, I take the time to comb through it and look for these bugaboos that creep into my writing. You may have your own list of problems to scout for, but here are some of mine.

Horn-Horn, Cracked is a young adult comedy fantasy novel written about Cassie. Book two is a continuation of book one. Cassie goes back to school. Pete, a convicted murderer, is astray and causes chaos in town. Cassie somehow gets pulled into the whole ordeal and is sent back in time to the 1950s. Thanks to Danube, a visitor who also confiscates Zag, Cassie has to return then and set things straight.

COVID Cat by Vaughn Stelzenmuller
“Pet a cat when you encounter one on the street,” commands author Jordan B. Peterson. So yesterday wouldn’t you know, walking along and minding my own bid’ness, here comes a fuzzy gray feline, trotting deliberately my direction, meowing and wanting some human pats. Normally a great thing to do, but what does a cat know these days about virus-fur contact! What the heck, this cute little girl-cat did a few cat neck-curls and tail circles, and so she earned some neck scratches and head noogies from me. Right hand only.
“Keep that virus contact limited. No touching eyes, mouth, nose, ears, or wallet,” say the Virus Expert Crowd. After a few scratches and nice cat words, the cute cat turned around and trotted just as deliberately back home, her job done.

Zepharius, who is a soldier, has the responsibility of increasing the strength of her planet and has a very obedient character. Once she realizes that mysterious disappearances are happening, she investigates the matter, and the aftermath of this realization becomes the source of the story.

In the two minds is a time travel fantasy story about a body that shares two personalities, a Museum curator called Thomas and a ten-year-old anglo Saxon Wulfstan. The year gap alongside the difference in culture alone should have made things complicated enough. But still, the story took the reader that extra mile, letting you know that the body could swap personalities at any time.
