Billy’s search for the unspell spell by Helen C Burke (Book Review #831)

Billy’s search for the unspell is a beautifully written story about Billy’s grandmother. She is the Magical Meadow’s fairy queen, and only Billy knows that she is trapped in Ireland. Everyone else thinks she is in Peru. Billy is searching for the Healing Well. The missing Merrow is what he needs to help his Grandma, but Finbar the Rat Boy has the Merrow’s cloak, and without it, the Unspell Spell cannot be used, so the mission becomes an adventurous one.

Billy is not alone. His friends from book one are also alongside joining him. Patsy, Ronan, and Tia are there to help him along the way. He also finds new friends. The literature is enjoyable for any child who likes fantasy and spells. The book is lovely to read and is fast-paced.

Rating: 5 out of 5.

What stood out to me was the character development. I read book one, so I  had some foundation reading into the second one; however, even if you did not have this background, it was easy to bond with the characters. The content had twists and turns, adding excitement to the nature of the story.

I recommend this book to fantasy fans, children who like spellbind books.
