The Contest by Nora Katzir (Book Review #880)

The contest is a murder thriller story. Amy, Rachel, Jessica, and Lauri are four good friends. Each have good jobs, and their friendship is close. As dynamic as their personalities and characters are, Rachel seems to be one standing out. Her husband, John, is a pathological cheater and causes much pain by doing so. Her friends decide to kill him without getting caught, but plans change when John dies from a different cause. The search for the real murderer begins.

The story is written and drafted with a particular skill that was admirable. The author keeps the reader intrigued by including many twists and turns to the story. I particularly enjoyed Lauri’s personality. She was the practical and logical person of the group. Her inputs were constructive, and her addition to the group made the story enjoyable to read.

Rating: 4 out of 5.

It appears that having multiple lovers can just get you into a lot of trouble. I’d say a lesson learned, and as for John, he certainly was a rotten egg from the start. When Rachel’s life came to danger, the story’s pace picked up, which introduced an additional thrill to the nature of the story.

The book embodied messages of love, infidelity, friendship, and revenge. I recommend this book to anyone who likes to read fiction thriller crime stories.
