Real Life: We breathe, We sleep, We eat … And In-between, We Live by Jill Reid (Book Review #913)

Real-life is a self-help book about the possibility of making a fresh start in life and creating another chance for being happy and content in life. It is easy to get caught up in the routine of things, and when things fall apart, we tend to forget the initial idea we had in wanting to be peaceful and remain balanced.

Rating: 5 out of 5.

The book is in 8 sections and consists of 35 inspirational, humorous, and honest stories. I particularly enjoyed the part where the author discusses how others behave with nothing to do with you. I always tend to blame myself for not receiving what I expected in return but learned here that it could easily be like the story of ‘Androcles and the Lion.’ I simply do not know why the person is angry and assuming that I am wrong. The Lion may simply have something stuck in his leg, or my case, my person, could be suffering for other reasons that have nothing to do with me.

The literature was written well and was easy to understand. I appreciated the standing view and the author’s will in wanting to help her readers.

‘Deciding how much of yourself to invest on behalf of others is a judgment call.’

I recommend this book to anyone who likes to read self-help material and wishes to re-evaluate their perspective.
