Portals by Jon D. Zimmer (Book Review #978)

Portals is a science fiction story about Joe, a football player from a wealthy family and providing him full support. An accident while playing causes him to be rushed to the hospital. As he falls in and out of unconsciousness, he sees some portals he chooses to enter.

I enjoyed how his focus was always to aim and achieve his goals. His life was not always about football but what mattered was that his determination was inspiring. Joe enjoyed politics, science and did not shy away from pursuing his dreams.

Rating: 4 out of 5.

The story embodied essential subject matters such as racism and its political standing, social injustice, climate change, and equal opportunities. I particularly enjoyed how education was portrayed as a means to introduce a society where diversity was more acceptable, and a means to destroy predigests. I also enjoyed its originality.

The book made me wonder how life would be if I had the chance to be given do-overs? What would I choose to do? What would I change?

I recommend this book to anyone who likes to read science fiction material.
