The Forty-Something Fanboy: A Midlife Crisis in the Age of COVID by Sam Choi (Book Review #1308)

‘The Forty-Something Fanboy’ is a contemporary fiction and begins introducing David Yi, a divorced Korean American man who is struggling to make connections due to Covid-19. He falls in love with Yoon- Mi, but soon that also falls apart since he cannot induce intimacy from a distance.

He travels to Korea to make things right now. His native land is foreign to him. The story then navigates David’s thoughts displaying all the social norms and expectations a culture possesses and then more.

The story is enjoyable to read, and the added humor really adds to the narrative. The concept was not far fetched and was relatable. I recommend this book to fiction readers.
