A Seat for the Rabble (Book One of A King Without a Crown) by Ryan Schuette (Book Review #1573)

‘A Seat for the Rabble’ is an epic fantasy about how the powerless can be given power and what the outcome will be. King Hexar returns to Southport in the kingdom of Loran only to realize that his daughter, Princess Lorana Eddenhold, has not done an excellent job in charge. The war he went off to finish has created an enormous amount of debt and has accomplished nothing beneficial for him, and now he has a kingdom that is purely struggling in every possible way.

When Hexar is poisoned, things take a massive turn into the story. The king’s son, Jason, should rule, but others hope his uncle will take the throne. So we enter a dynamic of a tale where politics, monarchy, and many fantasy elements dominate the storyline, ensuring you aren’t missing out on anything.

The story is filled with rich context. It is multi-perspective, and this stands out throughout the storyline. The fight for the throne reminded me of Game of Thrones. I enjoyed reading it.

The cover design is well thought out and represents the rich content inside. I recommend this book to those who enjoy fantasy stories and action adventures.
