Three-Penny Memories by Barbara Leonhard (Book Review #1575)

‘Three-Penny Memories’ is a nonfiction memoir by Barbara, enabling us to enter her world with a mother who has progressive Alzheimer’s. Her emotional challenges, psychical responses, and beautiful mind allow us to join her in a world we may have never known before.

Simply by reading this memoir, you understand what it is like to have a loved one who has Alzheimer’s and how the questions in your mind take you questioning things. You get to understand the love a child can have for her mother even when she barely recognizes you.

I found the literature to be perfectly written. It is pure and innocent and touches your heart. I appreciated the honesty but, above all, just for her courage to share it with us all.

I recommend this book to those who enjoy memoirs and are dealing with similar emotional conflicts.
