Jaguar Dreams by Susan MacBryde (Book Review #1634)

‘Jaguar Dreams’ is a contemporary fiction based deep in the Amazon Basin, where a heavy wave rocks the ground, causing a split and spill of oil everywhere. Kichwa, our protagonist, witnesses wildlife and her villager’s life in danger.

Life becomes the battle of survival, so the drama and added conflict between the residents, illnesses and growing concern induce a dynamic of a truly interesting tale.

Although the story is fictional, I found it very real and close to what could have happened. The literature is enjoyable to read and provides a nice cultural perspective. I appreciated the approach and the message embodied in the tale.

I recommend this book to those who like to read insightful fictional reads.
