*The Last Streamers of Confetti on New Year’s Eve* by Kenneth Nichols Fecteau and Judy Nichols Fecteau is an electrifying blend of paranormal adventure, historical fiction, and indigenous spirituality. The novel centers on Mandy, Lizzy, Hugo, and Yerma, four members of the Mistook Tribe, who find themselves caught between the present and their past lives during a writing assignment at a haunted hotel. As they undergo a powerful vision quest, they are thrust into a thrilling journey that takes them back to 1928 New Orleans, where their past selves, Zoey and Desiree, are tasked with ridding the French Quarter of a dangerous gang.

The story intricately weaves together the lives of the characters in both the modern and historical timelines. Mandy and Lizzy, while at the Manchester Castle Hotel, begin to experience vivid dreams that transport them into their past lives as daring flappers. Their alter-egos are courageous women on a mission to stop the criminal activities of a gang led by the wealthy Louis DeQuad. As they dive deeper into their shared past, they unravel the truth about DeQuad’s true accomplice: the formidable Queen Ant LaRouge, a villain from their previous vision quest.

As their bandmates, Hugo and Yerma, also embark on their own journey through guided meditation, they find themselves inhabiting the lives of Eric Strand, a dedicated Federal Agent, and Victoria Guerrera, the owner of a speakeasy under the thumb of DeQuad. Together, the four characters unite in the French Quarter to investigate the growing crime syndicate, only to discover a deeper, more sinister connection to their previous adventure.

The historical setting of 1928 New Orleans adds rich layers to the narrative. The authors do an excellent job of capturing the essence of the Jazz Age, with its speakeasies, prohibition, and the sense of mystery that permeated the French Quarter. The introduction of the Midnight Shadows, a vigilante group led by Zoey and Desiree, adds a thrilling, action-packed element as they fight to protect the innocent from DeQuad’s criminal empire.

The suspense builds to a fever pitch as the characters close in on the true mastermind behind the criminal operations, and the novel’s conclusion delivers an emotional and intense face-off in Jackson Square. The final scenes are a powerful resolution that brings together the past and present, offering closure and a sense of unity between the two lifetimes.

*The Last Streamers of Confetti on New Year’s Eve* is a captivating story about identity, reincarnation, and the unbreakable ties that bind people across time. The Fecteaus masterfully blend paranormal elements with historical intrigue, creating a narrative that is both thrilling and thought-provoking. The novel’s unique premise, strong character development, and engaging plot twists make it a memorable read for fans of mystery, adventure, and historical fiction.
