How’s your family by Sayonara Machado (Book Review #718)

How’s your family, is a self-help book discussing the value of family and how it creates a harmonic life. The book is divided into four sections. It begins with the author’s story and then follows through with some secrets broadening the knowledge about family and its structure.

Rating: 5 out of 5.

She mentions that just like marriage it needs care. Her emphasis is mostly on the institution of family and its organization as an entirety. The author connects the current cultural issues, climate and political changes to the formation of a new family. She believes that many variabilities surrounding this formation affect the experience one may have being a member.

I was particularly impressed that the author stayed away from portraying the best model or formation of what should be perceived as an example of a superior family. The book raises the issue of originating oneself when faced with the dilemma of wondering why we behave in certain ways and where we come from. It is certain to say that where we come from affects who we are and why we behave in evident ways.

I would recommend this book to self-help readers, and people who like to understand the core issue of building a family and having one.
