Reckoning of the Sons by JD Mitchell  (Book Review #1535)

‘Reckoning of the Sons’ is a young adult fantasy story and is the second book of its series. The story begins with Ali Mcmillan and how she is a descendant of the Tuatha de Danann, a race gifted with mythical abilities. She realizes this in her Junior year of high school, and much drama, dilemma, action and adventure come with that.

Ali is only seventeen, and although she wants a normal life, everything she has seen with the dragons and villainous brothers has not been forgotten. She is still finding her place in the mythical race and getting over killing a Son of Carman. Yet, Ali is wrong. There is more trouble coming, so she needs to act fast, and this entices the reader to another level.

The story is written well, with a fast pace and descriptive writing. Scene after scene includes some sort of a twist or a mind-boggling notion of matter that makes you wonder how it will be resolved.

The author has ensured this to be an interesting read. I appreciated all the attention given to detail and the conceptual devotion dedicated to the premise.

I recommend this book to fantasy fans and young readers.
