The Shadow of Banshee Hill by Fionn Mac Meldrum (Book Review #1550)

‘The Shadow of Banshee Hill’ is a gothic dark fantasy story filled with paranormal romance. The story begins with Cillian Valour, a tenant farmer’s boy who is very ambitious, meeting Emily, a young woman seeking revenge over the murder of her mother and abducted father. Cillian can help and let her know who did this, and so together, their journey begins, meeting ‘The Cruel One’ and all that transpires after that.

At first, you feel this is going to be a love story and nothing more, but as you read along, the plotline and interactions instigate to introduce much more. The story has many twists and turns, which I enjoyed. It divulges many detailed backstories, inducing a build-up to a beautiful finale.

The author has a certain writing style that increases the novel’s enjoyment. Much happening made me think it could even make it into a series.

I recommend this book to fantasy readers and those who like a bit of romance.
