Rejecting Destiny by Dennis Scheel (Book Review #835)

Rejecting destiny is a dark fantasy story. It is the third book of the series in the underworld’s series. The story begins with Denida and Nina grieving over their son’s murder. Both are in despair and deal with the issue differently. Denida has the power of the rind and has the Holy dagger that can kill gods. He makes a deal with Lucifer to go to Heaven and rescue Lucifer’s son in exchange for his own. Things don’t work out as he plans, so he is challenged on this quest to survive and deal with his loss.

My first impression of the book was the title. Rejecting Destiny? How can that be possible? Destiny is normally associated with something you cannot control and hence, cannot accept or reject. I was surprised and wanted to read the book for answers as well as to see how it was going to play out.

I immediately bonded with Denida and found him really enjoyable to read. The urban fantasy was filled with paranormal and occult fiction. The author beautifully places words describing the scenes and pulls you in the journey that is thought-provoking and stimulating at the same time.

I recommend this book to fantasy readers and those who enjoy dark natured material.
