When Evil Cries is a fictional story based on personal experience. Joao Adao Jovem is the heroine of this story. His behavior, mental stability, and the choices that he makes are all tainted by bad parenting and not receiving the necessary love and guidance from his parents.
His mother named him the devil and wanted nothing to do with him. His father was never around and he is basically left on the streets to defend himself. His path is not a surprising one after knowing this background. He leads a life with drugs and conducts crimes on the streets.
The story portrays the trials and tribulations this man goes through in finding his destiny and path in life. He does have friends and they take part in painting this path for him, but it is only he, which can make a change and begin a new chapter in his life.
When you have no one to back you, and your foundation of upbringing is so weak, it is very challenging to be able to stand up on your own two feet and make something of yourself. It is very easy to fall for any promise, be naïve, and trust the wrong kind when you never got to learn what real love and trust feels like.
I found this book to be extremely close to my heart. My background in child psychology really had me enjoying this book and I felt compassion towards the main character of the tale.
It is very hard to write about sensitive topics as such, yet be able to grab the reader’s attention and heart in such a way, which this author did. The literary standard was to perfection and the plot was genuine and relatable.
I highly recommend this book and look forward to reading more from this author.
