A Recipe for Love: A Lesbian Culinary Romance by Lucy J. Madison (Book Review #498)

A recipe for love is a fictional story about Danika. Her life has never been about herself, and as she retires from her long-term job, she realizes that for once she has a chance to do something with her life.

Danika is 55 years old and has been taking care of her ill partner for a very long time. She also has been tolerating her unkind father. After she decides to pursue something she has wanted to do for a very long time, she meets Finn, and that is when the story takes an interesting turn.

I found the romance between the Finn and Danika to be sweet. It was written with care and contained a delicacy that was necessary for a reader to feel its genuinely. I have met and experienced knowing so many people that live in a world where their entire life appears to be dedicated to their family or supposedly loved one. Once they realize how much time has passed and how little time they have devoted to themselves, it is astonishing to them. I felt that the author managed to portray and describe this feeling very well in her story.

The literature was well written, and the story was long enough to support its storyline. I recommend this book to romance lovers, women’s fiction readers and people who believe that love can be found at any age.
